THE STORY

This moment was captured in rural Manchester, Jamaica. Derval lifts his face slightly toward the sky. His hair is wrapped high. A spliff rests between his fingers, its smoke rising slowly, unhurried. He is not performing for the camera. He is simply and completely somewhere inside himself. This is what stillness looks like when it isn't posed.
